Navigation Modes (Normal / Agentic)
The Waylume extension has two execution modes that differ in how guidance moves forward. Switch between them with the "Mode" toggle at the bottom of the side panel.
Who performs the actions
You
Waylume (AI)
Input values
You type them
AI decides them on the spot
Steps
Follows a fixed sequence
Builds the sequence from your goal and runs it
Good for
Learning the flow, reviewing as you go
Long flows, getting it done in one pass
Credit cost
1 credit per navigation start
2 credits per navigation start
Both modes start from the side panel chat. When you describe what you want to do, Waylume picks a saved manual flow, an official SDK flow, or an AI-generated plan, then runs it the way the current mode dictates.
Normal Mode
Normal mode guides you through a saved flow in order.
Waylume highlights the element to interact with next, directly on the page
You perform the clicks and typing yourself
Each completed step advances to the next one
Guidance continues across page transitions (both SPA route changes and full page loads)
Choose this when you want to stay in control, when you are learning a flow for the first time, or when you want to review each screen as you go.
Agentic Mode
Agentic mode takes your goal, builds the steps, and operates the page automatically.
Whatever you type into the chat becomes the goal. There is no separate "Agentic goal" field.
How It Progresses
Prepare the steps — the AI generates a plan from your chat goal. If a saved flow matches the goal, it is offered as a candidate instead.
Start — press "Run on this screen" or "Start navigation".
Execute one step at a time — the AI identifies the element on the current page that fulfills the current step, then clicks, types, selects, or checks it.
Verify, then advance — Waylume confirms the action actually took effect (URL or DOM change, resulting value) before moving to the next step.
Complete — once the last step finishes, the completion state is shown.
The session survives page transitions, so flows that span several pages continue without losing context.
How Input Values Are Handled
In Agentic mode, the AI also decides what to type into form fields. The same applies when you run a saved manual flow in Agentic mode: values that were not stored at capture time are filled in by the AI. Waylume does not store input values when recording a flow.
Auto-Run Setting
Turning on Agentic auto-run in settings starts execution immediately after the steps are generated or selected, without waiting for you to press the run button. It is off by default.
When Things Get Stuck
If automatic progress stalls or the target element cannot be found, the side panel offers these controls.
Retry
Tries the same step again
Skip
Skips this step and moves on
Change element
Looks for a different candidate element
Redo
Restarts the step from the beginning
Stop
Halts navigation
Waylume also stops automatic progress on its own when it detects the same action repeating in a loop. Open the log view to see what was attempted and where.
Safety Stops
Steps that amount to irreversible actions — confirming a purchase, making a payment, cancelling a subscription, deleting an account — are never executed automatically. They go through a confirmation dialog (Confirm & Run) and only run once you approve.
Search buttons and ordinary submit buttons are treated as safe to automate. Not every submit action triggers a stop.
About Credits
Chat (including step generation): 1 credit
Navigation start: 1 credit for Normal, 2 credits for Agentic
The Free plan includes 12 credits in total; the Pro plan includes 50 credits per month
Runs that involve no AI reasoning — such as executing a saved manual flow in Normal mode — are counted differently. Your current balance is shown in the side panel and on the dashboard.
